Are the Warwickshire anarchists still meeting?
If you are, I'd like to remind all members of the existence of the Midlands Discussion Forum in Leicester and Birmingham, and furthermore issue the following invitation:
Invitation to Public Meeting
At a time when even our rulers admit the current crisis will be worse than the Great Depression, a heavy responsibility now lies on our shoulders to present and develop our views – not least of all, to each other.
You are invited to participate in an important meeting being hosted by the Midlands Discussion Forum, with the aim of providing a major opportunity to put across ideas and perspectives at this critical juncture, on a subject profoundly significant for the working class and its future.
Topic: "How can the working class respond to the current economic crisis?"
Date: 25 April, 2009
Time: 1pm – 5pm
Venue:Friends of the Earth Warehouse
54-57 Allison St
Digbeth
Birmingham
B5 5TH
Arrangements
Each group is asked to nominate someone to speak on the topic to the meeting, followed by a period for questions and discussion with the audience. There will be a slot in the session for the distribution and sale of literature. The precise details will be provided at a later stage. Please let us know as soon as possible whether your organisation will be able to take part and how many delegates you will be able to send, so that we may finalise arrangements.

Who's organising the Midlands Discussion Forum? Members of the Midlands Discussion Forum are.
There are several posts from us over the years, the thread at http://libcom.org/node/8716 being the one where we introduced ourselves in 2006. It contains the text of a leaflet that we originally produced in response to the existence of the West Midlands Anarchists. It sets out something of our history over the past 9 years or so, the different political perspectives in the forum, and what we've been discussing.
Feel free to PM me or email the midlandsdf@yahoo.co.uk addy for more information.
And are these members in the ICC, the IBRP or any other group?
Over the 9 years of the MDF's existence we've had particiapants who've espoused anarchism and anarchist-communism, council communism, left communism, situationism and SPGB-style socialism, and the one or two people who came to the odd meeting whose politics were less clear. Apologies to anyone I missed out there.
As for "the ICC, the IBRP or any other group", I really couldn't say. I know I'm not a member of any other groups apart from the MDF... "any other group" is a bit vague though, I've got no idea what other organisations people might be members of.
Why the ICC and IBRP in particular, if I may ask? I'm curious as to why you should mention them.
I thought you were a left communist judging from your other posts. And wouldn't be interested in going to a left communist meeting. But if that's not what this is I might come along.
The MDF is not a "Left Communist group". It is a group in which sympathisers of various political orientations and traditions participate, including sympathisers of Left Communism.
Anyone who believes that discussion of working class politics is important, is welcome to come. Whether the presence of Left Communists in those discussion would make us beyond the Pale is a matter for yourself to decide.
