AWE meeting (next tuesday)

Submitted by nosos on 21 November, 2006 - 09:16.

There’s a meeting at 5pm next Tuesday (week today) in meeting room 3 in Union North for all the people who were at the AWE action—as well as hopefully some who weren’t—to talk about what went well, what went less well and where we can go from here (also Ella wants to talk about Faslane).

Hope to see plenty of you there.

Interested to see that there's a Warwick Uni/Cov anarchist group again. At least, that's what it looks like. Am I right?

There was an active anarchist group at the Uni during the Miners Strike and after and the Coventry Anarchist Group 1985-1989 was pretty big if also pretty useless! It was made up of local punks, Poly students and a few class struggle anarchists (as they were then known. There was n (unconnected to CAG) Coventry Evening Anarchist that came out a couple of times. There were a few active anarchos knocking about at the uni again in the 90/91 period, known as Organise! A couple of them went on to produce Worldwide Intifada in Leamington and then disappeared.

The local lefty bookshop (The Wedge) sold most anarchist papers but they were very unfriendly to anarchists themselves!

Anyway, enough unsolicited reminiscing. I haven't heard of anything anarcho in Cov/Warwickshire since the early 90s, so it's good news.

Cov never had a Class War group, but Leamington and Kenilworth did - they had a great banner! If anybody knows Kenilworth, you can appreciate the irony. This group could mobilise a lot of people...ramble ramble
