About me

You can read all about me by going to my website, eighthraven.net . The basics: I'm an anarchist, Unihubu (Unitarian Humanist Buddhist); into books (hard sci-fi), astronomy, archaeology, geology. I'm also a vegetarian. I love writing, too. Working on a book now. You can see some of my writing at the Eyes of Dissent and some poems on my website. I'm heavily involved with my union, Texas State Employees Union. I live with a wonderful man, Eric, and four kitties, Midas, Chamberlain, Canute and Boudica. I work at a university in Dallas conducting an online survey concerning high-risk behavior for HIV transmission. I also provide technical assistance to local health departments and community-based organizations across Texas to implement HIV incidence and drug-resistant strain surveillance.

What do your politics mean to you?

They are very important to me, though it can be frustrating living in a city with nearly zero activism going on. Dallas is completely devoid of anything going on. A Food Not Bombs group is just now organizing, and that's it.
